The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark (Campus Odense) invites applications for a PhD scholarship in computer science funded by the Grand Solutions project PREPARE. The successful applicant would become part of the Data Science & Statistics research group.
The proposed starting date is 1 July 2022 or soon thereafter. The appointment will be made for a term of three years at a competitive salary and will follow the PhD study programme at the Faculty of Science.
The ideal candidate has a background in or experien ce with one or more of the following topics:
- Synthetic health data
- Generative adversarial networks
- Bayesian networks
- Machine learning method development.
The successful candidate will contribute to the development of an advanced home test for assessing the risk of cardiovascular diseases by:
- Evaluating existing systems for synthetic data generation
- Developing novel systems for synthetic data generation
- Generating synthetic data sets for the PREPARE project
- Collaborating closely with clinical and data analysis experts.
The applicant is expected to hold a relevant MSc degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Statistics or another field that provides a sufficient degree of background in computer science, mathematics, statistics, and/or data science. Fluency in English and Python are required. Experience working with health data and programming experience with other languages (Java, C++ etc.) is a plus.
MSc candidates about to complete will also be considered and should attach a statement from their supervisors regarding their impending completion.
